1112 – Water Considerations   arrow

One way to reduce the water a lawn needs is to reduce the amount of lawn. Consider a patio or deck to create a living space that requires no water. Determine the location and the amount of lawn really needed for landscape and recreation.

When designing a garden, think about where water naturally collects, such as under the down spouts of a house, at the bottom of a slope, or adjacent to the lawn. Reserve these spots for plants that require more water. Also, for convenience, keep plants that require more water close to the house. Tops of slopes, southern exposures and under-used areas are excellent sites for plants that require less water.
